I had the opportunity to go to Paris for Valentine's day weekend! We left Thursday night, and took a bus and a ferry to get there, about 12 hours of traveling- for two days. In hindsight just remind me to never again travel for 12 hours for two days if it can be helped.
Anyways, we got there, and we had a croissant and coffee at a little bistro own the way from our hotel (we stayed in the Hotel Luxia, and I would not recommend- staff rude no luggage storage and forced to leave it in the lobby, ect). Me and Celina had to try really hard to get over the fact that it was normal to start drinking this early because the Bistro's bar was open as well-- and people were definitely partaking.
We then went on a wild goose chase. we could see this building in the background and we decided we needed to find it somehow. After going down several wrong streets we faced these lovely stairs:
| We made it to the top! |
Turns out we were at the Sacre de Coure, a massive church that looked over the majority of Paris. It had a great view.
| You can't really see the city behind us! But it was sure windy! |
Then to the subway. After some confusing conversations with the metro worker who tried her best to understand us we got a booklet of 10 tickets for the day (five for each of us) and went on our way, in attempt to find Notre Dame, and the Panthéon. Right before we got onto the metro I checked for my wallet, and it was gone. After going back to a couple of place we'd been, ie the information booth and the ticket counter, I realize it'd been stolen. Since we still couldn't go back to the hotel to check in we marched forward to Notre Dame and the Panthéon which both went by with out a hitch.

By the time we figured out how to get back to the hotel from the fabulous church we could check in. we spent an hour moaning over sore feet and cancelling cards. then we headed tot he Louvre. The Louvre, lucky for us, is free for those under 26 after 6PM on Fridays. good for me since I really didnt have too much cash. the Louvre was gorgeous! I wish we had a week there we barley saw 4 floors of two of the 8 museums. But we did get to see the famous Mona Lisa!
After that some how we ended up at the famous Arc. Not that spectacular but definitely worth a walk by. We found ourselves at the Ferris Wheel surrounded but the smell of Churros, crepes and hot wine before we made our final journey back to the hotel.
